It ended so quickly!

I have been following this journal, and have discovered something in the fine print.

Moving forward, it looks doubtful that I will be posting many, if any, photographs here on DA. The way I read DA's latest submission agreement, is that it appears to me they are reserving the right to strip an artist of their copyrights any time they might choose to do so. No thanks. I work WAY too hard at this to hand my work over to someone else to profit from.Over the course of the next couple of weeks, I'll be removing almost all of my work from DA.

=Fokus-Foto said in response:
The Submission Agreement doesn't take ownership or copyrights away from you, but DA was a broad usage of your works Including info/bio) of your submissions. You still own the images, but the agreement allows them to use it as defined -- which is very broad - actually too broad.

The termination part is rather interesting. Even of you delete the images or your gallery they still retain usage per the agreement. So, deleting your images doesn't end anything. You have to read and understand the termination part of the agreement.

It also covers DA, any/all sites or sites(s) owned by DA, LLC and any successor to DA.

If you participate and/or submit here it's really not a "free community" unless you just surf and steal as some appear to do.

Personally i dont quite like this, but i suppose its:
1) In the terms and agreement when i signed up, but who ever reads the fine print? i guess i'm one of the suckers born everyday.

2) I suppose this is how this site can be kept free for so many. But then how many paying subscribers are there?

3) This makes this site a amature site truly. Any professional worth his/her salt will move on to his own website. Hey for US$50 bucks a year anyone can have his own website. Just double what it costs here.

The question to ask is the community and networking worth it the potential loss of copyright or work?

I need to ponder on this, and thus will not post anything more untill i figure if i mind my work getting potentially used. i'll be on flickr instead for awhile.
